The Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601) is a digital entry authorization issued by the Department of Home Affairs. It is required for eligible passport holders traveling to Australia by air or sea for short stays of up to three months, covering tourism, business visits, and short-term study. The ETA is strictly a visitor authorization and does not permit paid employment or long-term academic courses.
